Sclash [Review]

Sclash! The sound the swords make when they clash? Or is it slash and clash combined as one word? Sclash is a fighting/beat-up game developed by Maximum Entertainment and Abiding Bridge in collaboration with development studio Bevel Bakery.

Sclash, like many other games, takes inspiration from the PlayStation One-era game Bushido Blade. One hit, and you're dead. Dodge, Perry Attack is the name of the game. Players with the quickest reflexes or strategic minds will be the winners in this game. Unfortunately, this game has very little to offer, but with the price point being 9.99, it's hard to argue with the skeleton game that's been presented. This game offers a Story mode and VS mode. Within the story mode, you can do classic stage-by-stage fights like in a standard fighting game, a permadeath mode, time attack, and a mode called firewall. The story mode from the game has a voice-acted story with beautiful art and a soothing voice that sets the story up. The game starts with the character Jinmu, a samurai trainee who is considered a hard-to-beat warrior. This game surprised me with its beat 'em uppish style story mode. I did not go into this game with that expectation. It's fun and provides a lot of replayability.

The art style of this game is incredibly beautiful. Using oil pastels to create the look of an old scroll telling a story. My friends and I were completely blown away by this visual aesthetic. Sclash offers 16 playable levels, all with a day and/or night version. Sclash also offers five playable characters with selectable skins for weapons, masks, and swords. After playing some of the Story mode and the options available in story mode you can earn new cosmetics to change up your characters a bit. Sclash is an amazing game and is highly recommended. Sclash is available now for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Xbox Family of consoles.

This game may not offer much, but what it does offer for only 9.99 is great! Sclash has plenty of replay value and can generate hours of fun with such a simple concept.
