PAX East Spotlight: Gestalt: Steam and Cinder
By: Peeziest
Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is a steampunk action-adventure game set in an engaging world. You start in a town that effectively acts as the hub world. The town branches out into several different areas and biome. While in the town, you'll pick up quests, and otherwise watch it grow as you progress through the game.
Combat is exciting, with a wide range of maneuvers and attacks available. Opponents have health and a "break" bar. Your sword attacks damages health, while your gun and various kicks (slides and dropkicks) deplete the break bar. Once a foe's break bar is empty, they'll suffer some sort of penalty, such as becoming stunned or losing armor. You can either go for the direct kill, or try to break through their defenses first.
Gestalt is loaded with progression systems. Your character has an experience gauge, allowing you to increase different stats. You'll also find parts that can be used to improve your blade, bullets, and more. In addition, you'll unlock new abilities as your progress, such as extending your basic combo.
I'm excited to play through Gestalt: Steam & Cinder, which is targeting a release later this year. Look for it on Playstation 4, Xbox One, the Switch, and Steam.
