PAX East Spotlight: Lucifer Within Us

Kitfox Games brought the first playable demo of Lucifer Within Us to PAX East, and I had the opportunity to give it a go.
Lucifer Within Us is a mystery solving game about testimonies and exorcisms. The setting is a futuristic theocracy where everyone has cybernetic implants. As a result, your average Joe vulnerable to cyber-demonic possession.
You play as Sister Ada, a digital exorcist. Her job is to investigate murders, uncover the truth, and cast out the demon in the culprit.
The game uses a unique timeline mechanic, allowing you to replay the events leading up to the murder like a movie. At any point during the tesimoney you can pause, replay, or jump to a different point. Each witness has their own timeline, where they recall what happened. Since each testimony is subjective, you'll have to catch omissions and lies by comparing events from different testimonies. If you find a contradiction of some sort, you can call it out, which updates the testimony.
The demo I played did not show off the exorcism mechanic. The folks at Kitfox games are still ironing out the details, but they're excited to unveil it in a future announcement.
