PAX East Spotlight: Radical Rabbit Stew

By: Peeziest

I had a chance to try out Radical Rabbit Stew for the first time. The game is an action arcade puzzle game. It's cute, and quite fun!

The basics of gameplay involve knocking rabbits into pots of stew using a spoon. Each level contains a certain number of stew pots, and each pot takes a single rabbit before it blasts off into space. Thematically, the game is all over the place, but in a quirky way. Anyways, send off all of the pots to complete the level.

The game is made up of a number of worlds, each containing several levels. At the end of a world, you'll encounter a boss.

Progressing through each world was exciting because the game kept introducing new mechanics. For example, I started with a basic wooden spoon, that could be used to stun rabbits and knock them back a short distance. Within the first world I picked up a metal spoon, which needed to be charged before each swing, but sent the rabbit flying backwards, breaking through blocks and other obstacles on the way.

Some levels also feature large coins that you can collect, but usually involve some sort of exploration. They're rewards for players that go out of their way to collect them. For example, I launched a rabbit across a body of water, which reveled invisible platforms I could cross, leading to a coin.

If you're salivating for more, then good news! Radical Rabbit Stew is targeting a July 2020 release date. With releases on PS4, XBone, Switch, and PC.
