Under Night In-Birth 2 SSYS: CELES [Review]
Under Night In-Birth 2 is an absolute treat for any fighting game fans out there. Everything that could be asked for in a fighting game is present in this game. For starters this game has Rollback Net Code, a very in-depth training mode, and some pretty good single-player content. Graphically the game uses an older art style renewed with meticulously detailed HD pixel graphics and I love the pixel graphic look for games as long as it's done correctly and this game does deliver. Under Night offers a large cast of 24 characters. Under Night 2 offers Three characters that are unrelated to the season pass : Kaguya, Tsurugi, and Kuon.
This fighting game, like many others, has added simple inputs so newcomers or even people who are not good at but still love fighting games can join in on the action and enjoy themselves. I personally for years have been saying this fighting game series is easy to play and hard to master. Several games have now adopted single-button combos and easy string combos. What sets this game apart is the amount of things you can do once you learn a character. Finding ways to keep a string going and juggle a character or even seeing what moves connect is always fun and kind of makes me feel like I'm playing a 2D version of Tekken. A small feature the game has is the ability to customize the color pallet on characters. Each character has 40 color pallet swaps plus extra slots for your own color creations. I will say it is nice to be able to customize the characters that I like to use, giving me a more personalized feel and connection to whom I'm using.
As this game is very similar to the last game there isn't a whole lot to say about this new entry. The game uses the same roster from the first one with three additional characters and more to come in the future. Visually the game got an upgrade. Rollback Net Code is a welcome and needed addition to the game for smooth online play and the continuation of the story :severing the cycle. All of these things listed make this game an easy recommendation and fighting game fans should pick this one up and join the fray.
