A Tech-stravaganza! Loot Anime's February Haul/Unboxing!
By: MithrandielI know it seems like my last Loot Anime unboxing was just last week...because it was! Just like that, the February box landed on my doorstep, and I'm excited to show off the latest haul with a Tech-Centric theme! This month's box has got a pretty good balance - let's kick off with the manga entry: Battle Angel Alita. Those who are unfamiliar with this classic cyberpunk series certainly owe it to themselves to dive into this opening volume, and follow this path all the way through Last Order. Though James Cameron's upcoming project is drawing some murmurs and skepticism, the source material is among some of the best cyberpunk storytelling you can find. A great entry.Speaking of formative titles, there's also a pretty cool beanie included that features the one and only Robotech. A favorite of old anime fans who routinely chase kids off their lawn, this beanie is sure to keep your head warm at the next anime convention, where Gen Z anime fans will no doubt ask you about your beanie, or if you've heard about this little series called "Darling in the FRANXX".Probably my favorite element of this month's box, the shirt features Psycho Pass - a fantastic sci-fi series that has seen a couple seasons and a movie, with talk of further installments to come. The shirt is simple enough, but the outline of the dominator on the left hand side is a great detail and will certainly be entering my regular lineup of nerdy shirts. Now, onto the main event... This month's figure is a serious throwback, harkening back to one of anime's earliest titles: Astro Boy. This is a light up figure that doesn't have the same vibrancy and color as you may have been used to in previous months: The real kicker though is that you can flip a switch for it to light up! Ready? Ready? Granted, it doesn't have the same affect in daylight, but still a pretty cool little collectible (NOT a toy, as the box wants to be sure you understand).Overall, a solidly crafted box from Loot Anime this month. The Astro Boy figure might not do it for you, especially if you've gotten used to the more colorful and increasing quality of the figures in the last few months (though I guess last month's Shadow the Hedgehog was a step away from that track...)Remember to use our link to sign up for Loot Anime in order to save 10% off your first box! Coming up next month is Evangelion and Assassination Classroom content. Look forward to it!
