PAX East Spotlight - Projection

Projection is a 2D shadow-puzzle platformer, where shadows are physical platforms. The puzzles in the game focus around the idea of moving a light so that it casts shadows. Depending on where the shadows are, they can be used to reach new areas.

For example, the demo had me pulling levers to move some stage lights around. This resulted in new shadows appearing, which I could use to gain access later parts of the stage.

Light and shadow plays a big part in Projection, both mechanically and visually. The game features a striking visual style, where the characters appear as cut-out figures from a shadow play. Real world usage of shadow puppetry was the main inspiration the game's visual style, and it is lovely.
