PAX East Spotlight - Negative World

Negative World is a puzzle platformer, with a retro inspired visuals style.
What makes Negative World stick out from the pack, is that jumps are a limited resource. Each level allows for a certain number of jumps. Players will have to carefully ration out their jumps to complete each level.

Tofurther complicate matters, the player will run across silhouettes ofplatforms/blocks with a conditional statement (an operator and number, like" = 2"). These blocks are only solid as long as the number ofremaining jumps meets the condition: if a block states " > 5",then the block is only solid as long as the player has more than five jumps.

These conditional blocks added an interesting challenge, because the jump counter is reduced as soon as the character starts a jump. Completing some of the stages required that I plan multiple consecutive jumps far in advance, which is uniquely uncommon when compared to other platformers.

Check out our audio interview with developer Michael below, then take a peek at the game on steam.
