Nintendo Stuns With A Thrilling Direct! [June 2024 Nintendo Direct Announcements]

After Xbox’s fantastic showcase, and with the Switch officially in its final year, the expectations for this month’s direct certainly ran the gamut. While Nintendo had previously confirmed that their new hardware would not be making an appearance today, there were still lots of rumors and excitement about what could be shown. Amazingly, Nintendo was able to fire on all cylinders, and while there may not have been a ton of titles for any individual gamer, there was certainly something for everyone in this show.

Among the highlights were The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, where you get to play as Princess Zelda, our first look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and the HD-2D remakes of the first three Dragon Quest games, among many others.

There was a lot to take in during the Nintendo Direct, but this roundup will help to ensure that you don't miss a thing!

Nintendo Direct June 2024 Games

Here’s every game featured in the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024:

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom In a surprising twist, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will put players in the shoes of Princess Zelda herself as she navigates a Hyrule torn by mysterious rifts. This game is set to release on September 26, 2024, and introduces a new character, a fairy named Tri, who helps Zelda use the "power of the Tri Rod" to create echoes of environmental objects. Some examples included making bridges out of old beds, using water blocks to get to hard-to-reach ledges, and more inventive gameplay mechanics. Plus, a limited edition, gold-colored Nintendo Switch Lite with the Hylian Crest will arrive alongside the game.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond After over seven years, we finally got a glimpse of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Set to release in 2025, this long-awaited installment shows Samus in a new adventure that promises to expand on the series' rich lore and intense gameplay.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership Launching on November 7, 2024, Mario & Luigi: Brothership takes our favorite plumbing duo on an island-hopping adventure aboard the part-ship, part-island called Shipshape Island. Expect vibrant art, lush rainforests, bustling cities, and cameos from Mushroom Kingdom favorites like Peach and Bowser.

Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes Dragon Quest fans rejoice! (It’s me, I’m rejoicing!) The HD-2D remakes are coming to Switch, with Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D releasing first on November 14, 2024, and Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D following in 2025. Relive the beginning of the Erdrick Trilogy with updated visuals and gameplay enhancements. Just look at this key art!

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Set for release on January 16, 2025, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD brings the beloved Wii and 3DS classic to the Switch with updated graphics, local co-op, and all the original and additional stages.

Super Mario Party Jamboree A new Mario Party game is on the horizon! Super Mario Party Jamboree arrives on October 17, 2024, featuring an "enormous island resort," five new game boards, two classic boards, over 110 minigames, and a new Koopathlon mode supporting over 20 players.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics This collection bundles seven classic arcade titles, including Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and X-Men vs. Street Fighter, bringing them to the Switch later in 2024. It also includes original songs, development docs, and never-before-seen art.

Nintendo Switch Online Additions Coming later today, big titles like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords, Metroid: Zero Mission, Perfect Dark (with online multiplayer!), and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter are being added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
