First Impressions: Just Shapes & Beats

By: MithrandielDo you enjoy bullet hell games? How about rhythm games? What if I told you that there's an amazing game coming out that lets you enjoy both at the same time?! Welcome to Just Shapes & Beats - the latest title from Berzerk Studios and indie game developer extraordinaire Lachhh. The game caught my eye, well...ear really, when I heard a collective groan from the distance. Four players were fighting there way through a wave of bullets and lasers, all while set to a slick beat. They recently released a teaser for it so, take a look below and you'll see what I mean.[arve url="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EscYuuBn6jY"]I played through all three stages and the bonus stage and was eager to move onto the next stage. The concept is about as simple as it gets: you and your friends are various shapes, and you avoid projectiles and bullets that are thrown at you while set to different beats. So, just shapes and beats. Got it?If one of your friends gets taken out, they can be rescued by dashing to them or through them and bringing them back into the fray. Most stages feature multiple checkpoints, which definitely helps when facing some of the more ridiculously paced stages and challenges.Being featured at TwitchCon - I immediately thought of the entertainment value that this game will bring when showcased on Twitch.Again - not a lot of complexity to shapes and beats, but what it lacks in depth it more than makes up for with fun, and in a local co-op mode to boot!You can find out more about Shapes and Beats at the main site here.
