Days - Episode 13 (Review)

By: AlanV[yasr_multiset setid=11] Miss my review of episode 12? Check it out here!Episode 13 of Days is a super chill, slice-of-life type of episode. Tsukushi is still processing losing the tournament final and working his way out of the doldrums. He’s given a helping hand by his friends while attending a summer festival and joining a study session. In typical fashion he’s up at the crack of dawn running. While this fits with the character it’s frustrating to not see him work on other parts of his game. Why not have him work on his ball trapping skills, or have him doing some agility drills? He’s no longer a newbie to the sport, and surely he has been paying enough attention in practice to know what he needs to do.Days - Episode 13 Summer FestivalThe main reason the team lost was because of his shocking miss right in front of goal. The only way he’s going to get better is by working on his technical skills. Hopefully as we get deeper into the second half of the season these deficiencies are addressed. Otherwise it’s hard to envision him becoming a full time starter on a championship winning team. After the frustrating start of just seeing more running, things switch gears to some summer festival fun. There isn’t much new to see here, other than seeing Tsukushi and his teammates in some more humorous scenes. The show also uses the opportunity to reinforce the change in his social situation, with him having more friends now than when he was younger.Days - Episode 13 Study SessionContinuing the fun and humor is a study session with his teammates, who are looking to avoid having to do any studying over the summer. Most of this light fluff, with the best part being one of the player’s sister creeping around the house while they’re hitting the books. The final piece of the puzzle to Tsukushi moving on from losing the game also comes during this segment when he is given some advice by one of the senior players, which is a nice moment. This is a nice, relaxed episode with some funny and sweet moments. It’s a nice break as they will be gearing up for more games and tournaments.Days can be viewed on Crunchyroll, new episodes debut Saturday at 3:30PM EDT.
