Halo: The Master Chief Collection Headed to PC

By: AlanV

Halo fans who game on PC can finally rejoice! After years of asking Microsoft to bring the venerable franchise over to PC, this request is finally being fulfilled. Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo: Reach will both be available on Steam and the Microsoft Store. Halo: Reach is also going to be placed within The Master Chief Collection.

According to Brian Jarrard, Community Director at 343Industries, “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to bring theHalo Universe and Master Chief’s story to a new audience and to offer PC gamersa chance to step into the franchise on the PC platform of their choice.

For the team at 343 Industries, the most important andcritical element of this project is ensuring that Halo: The Master ChiefCollection delivers a true “first class” experience on PC.”

The collection will be making its way to PC in stages, with each game being release one by one rather than releasing the entire collection at once. 343 Industries wants to make sure that each game will meet the exacting standard of the PC gaming community, and the release schedule will allow that to happen.

The titles will be made available in chronological order; Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4. Unfortunately, no official release dates for any of the titles have been announced.

It’s always beenstrange to see the PC get snubbed when it comes to Halo, even though Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 both made it on to the platform. ThePC gaming community has been very vocal about wanting to see more of the franchise, and it looks as if their lobbying is finally paying off.

Although, with Halo:Infinite on the way this is a smart move to get some positive press. Italso works well with Xbox’s efforts to get more synergy going between their consolesand PCs. An even smarter move is the decision to allow this on the Steamstorefront rather than keeping it locked away in the Microsoft Store.
