Deadpool 2 (Spoiler Review)

The merc with the a mouth is back in all his irreverent glory. Deadpool 2 ups the action, humor and fourth wall breaking this time around. With some fantastic new additions to the cast, Deadpool 2 sets itself up for major success.
Synopsis
After failing to protect Vanessa, Wade feels completely lost. Colossus recruits Deadpool to become a member of the X-Men. During his first mission as an X-Men trainee, Deadpool learns that the mutant he is trying to help, Russell, has been abused by faculty members at a mutant rehab facility. After a series of events, Wade and Russell are arrested and have their powers inhibited by specialized collars. While locked away in a specialized facility for mutants, Cable arrives from the future to kill Russell. The young mutant becomes a menace in the future and must be eliminated. After chaos ensues, Deadpool and Cable are blasted outside of the facility. Deadpool feels the need to protect Russell and decides to form his own team of super powered beings, the X-Force. This team has their work cut out for them as Cable proves to be a powerful adversary.
Review
There is A LOT to cover so lets jump right in! The overall story development is an improvement from the original. There was a lot more involved in this sequel and it was handled very well. Every character had proper motivations behind their actions. While some say that Deadpool didn't have enough of a connection to Russell in order to defend him to such lengths, I would have to disagree. While Wade may be an irreverent and borderline psychotic murder machine, he also has a massive heart. His love for Vanessa drove him to become better. Russell's predicament allotted Wade the opportunity to adhere to Vanessa's words earlier in the film.
The character designs were incredible. We finally got a legit Juggernaut! I heard rumors that he was going to be in the film, but his reveal was so well done that I was still surprised. His CGI was amazing! They got his personality down perfectly. I about lost my mind when he ripped Deadpool in half. Don't even get me started on how fun that Colossus vs Juggernaut fight was. I appreciated how after being torched by Russell that Deadpool appeared to have his black and grey X-Force suit from the comics. The little touches like that elevate this film.The action is superior to that of the first film. What else can you expect from director, David Leitch, who worked on John Wick. It's clear that when it comes to fight and stunt coordination that he knows what he's doing. The ability to play with Deadpool's regenerative powers mid battle added another level of insanity.The humor is of course rampant throughout the movie. Reynolds is a master at improvisation and sarcasm which is pretty much 90% of what makes Deadpool, Deadpool. While some jokes landed crushing blows, others did not. One of the few things that was better in the original was the consistent successful humor. Don't get me wrong, this movie is hilarious, but there were times when the audience was clearly supposed to laugh and the theater was dead silent. Those moments tended to occur more often when T.J. Miller's character, Weasel, was on screen. His punchlines just didn't land this time around. The jokes about Deadpool creator, Rob Liefeld, not knowing how to draw feet, and Cable having so many pouches was great. If you are a comic book fan, you most likely know that Liefeld is known for hiding feet and adding an abundance of pouches to his characters.
Zazie Beetz crushes it as Domino! She stole nearly every scene she was in. It's obvious why they did reshoots to give her more screen time. I never thought I'd want a solo Domino movie, but now I actually do. Peter was incredible. His role was unbelievably random and hilarious. Having Brad Pitt as Vanisher was genius. I never thought watching a parachute falling to the earth with an invisible man attached to it would be funny, but I was clearly wrong. Killing off nearly the entire X-Force was an unexpected surprise. That entire sequence was pure gold.The end credit scenes are fantastic. We sadly did not get a cameo from Hugh Jackman, but they did reuse some footage of him from X-Men Origins. We finally got to see Deadpool kill the abomination of pseudo "Deadpool" in glorious fashion. While saving Vanessa and Peter might seem like a cop out, Deadpool is all about making fun of these movie cliches. I love the fact that he saves Peter and no other X-Force member. The merc does what he wants. "Cleaning up the timeline" was the most Deadpool ending they could have done. If you haven't seen Deadpool yet, why on Earth are you reading this article?!
