Critical Role Updates

As we face the possibility that Critical Role may be on hiatus for at least another month, and the new Critical Role content has slowed to a heartbreaking drip...we here at Geekly Grind have got your back! With this compiled list of DnD fun we hope to add to your weekly binge list to get you through this shut down.

But before we dive in, let's recap what new videos we got from Critical Role! If you're a subscriber to their Twitch channel you can watch the VOD of Narrative Telephone a (not suprisingly) hilarious disaster of the cast of Critical Role playing a Pumat Sol themed version of the children's game Telephone. It is well worth the 35 minutes of watching the cast giggle through a wild story telling montage. Also, we now have a YouTube version of everyone's favorite Karaoke classic Your Turn To Roll!

If you missed the Live stream of Critical Role's latest Fireside Chat....it was one of the most entertaining fiascoes I have seen in a long time. I don't think Matt and Marisha actually intended to take the 'fire' part of the fireside chat so literally. Even if you only stay for the first 15 minutes of tragedy, it's incredible.

All Work No Play aired their final episode of season 2! Featuring fan favorites Mica Burton, and Gil Ramirez, Sam and Liam try their hand at blacksmithing their very own daggers!

New Show Alert! Mica Burton begins her Critical Role takeover with her and Matthew Mercer's new show. In this cloyingly sweet and utterly adorable intro, Mica and Matt give us the scoop on their new show promoting and highlighting Critter artists from all around the world. Premiering May 4th and continuing to broadcast on the first Monday of every month, check out this fun new series.

Now Onto DnD

Here's a list of our favorite DnD related content out there! There's a mix of YouTube series, Twitch streams, and weekly Podcasts that you can choose from. There's hopefully something for every kind of nerd out there...for those of you with younglings, those seeking intense and engaging adventures with Wil Wheaton, or a crew of Power Rangers, or musicians, you'll find something new to love here.

First up, Knights of the Rolled Table: In this family friendly podcast you can find an incredible cast of friends fights, laughs, and blunders their way through their adventurous campaign. This is a fantastic podcast to listen to, especially for those with kids around. Plus, they have a 4 episode How to DnD arc that introduces how to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e. Don't miss out on the DnD fun now that the kids are at home, convert them into DnD lovers just like you! With three seasons and over 50 episodes, there's tons of new adventuring to enjoy! Bonus, this cast also features artists that can customize your very own DnD character or compose an epic theme for your crew!

The Adventure Zone: I assume that the vast majority of Critters have heard of or listened to this famed podcast series. Though if you haven't, I'll do my best to try and capture the magic... Three hilarious brothers, and their dad play through the worlds of DnD not letting their misplaced eagerness or incompetency get in their way. This show was my first introduction to Dungeons and Dragons so it holds a very special place in my heart. The first season or arc of this show is still one of THE FUNNIEST things I have ever listened to. It is classic. Also, if you're willing to shill out a mere 5 dollars, you can access their super secret bonus episode featuring our very own Matthew Mercer, all while supporting the arts! Check it out- Mercer: A MaxFunDrive 2020 Bonus One-Shot

Titan's Grave: If you haven't checked out Geek and Sundry's Titan's Grave NOW IS YOUR CHANCE. It is one of the most engaging, delightful, endearing, and addicting Tabletop RPG series I have watched. It is gorgeously made, the art is phenomenal, Wil Wheaton kills it as a GM and it features Critical Role cast member Laura Bailey! What more could you want out of a series?!

Fungeons and Flagons: This Sourcefed Nerd YouTube series spinoff features a hilarious cast of characters playing through an improv game that loosely resembles DnD. DnD Lite. GM Maude Garrett is hilarious and quick on her feet.

BomBARDed: In this podcast series, a party of three bards traverse through the worlds of 5e DnD. Check out their Critical Role themed episode titled Bards Gone Wilde(mount). One of my favorite things about this podcast is that the cast are real life musicians who play their instruments on air to cast their spells.

Power Rangers Hyperforce: Just in case you need to up your nerd levels. this YouTube series is a Tabletop RPG improv set in the world of Power Rangers.

High Rollers: This YouTube series features Critical Role alumn Mark Hulmes (aka Caliana) as the GM. He leads his hilarious crew through his world of Aerois, streaming weekly on Twitch! Also available as a podcast.

Dungeons and Daddies: A Podcast about a group of four dads who must venture into the world of the Forgotten Realms to rescue their kidnapped sons. Beyond the adorably family friendly premise to this podcast, you can find some famous faces of OG YouTube lore. Matt Arnold, and Freddie Wong, who co-founded RocketJump and created Video Game High School play along side a cast of other writers and creators.

Not Another DnD Podcast: What happens when the heroes fail and you're all that's left? In this creative take on an "after the campaign campaign", these intrepid new adventurers must find a way to fix the mistakes of the Legendary Heroes who tried their best to save the world.

I hope this list can help tide you over until Critical Role returns! Check back for more Critical Role updates and and news you may have missed. Stay safe, stay nerdy and don't worry...It's almost Thursday!
