Coridden [Review]
Coridden, an action role-playing game (ARPG), centers on four family members endowed with shape-shifting abilities. The gameplay of Coridden evokes comparisons to Diablo and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, yet it distinguishes itself through unique mechanics. The game incorporates fast-paced combat, encompassing dodging, magic, diverse weaponry, and shape-shifting. The cooperative experience is particularly noteworthy, facilitating creative team attacks, exemplified by one player transforming into a mount for another. Visual cues, such as the highlighting of imminent enemy attacks, enhance the combat dynamic.
Coridden presents visually impressive and elaborate graphics, alongside a variety of weapons and transformations available early in the game. These include a bow, staff, sword, and axe, as well as several transformations such as a wolf-like creature. The game's completion time is estimated at 7-8 hours, with numerous side quests available for engagement. Players have the opportunity to experiment with upgrades and reallocate their skill trees to optimize their playstyle. While not featuring an open-world design, Coridden offers open zones with multiple paths and discoverable rewards. Personally I don’t do side quests on games although I will be going through this game again for personal play since this playthrough was for review purposes. While the game does exhibit certain bugs, these do not significantly detract from its overall quality. With local co-op functionality and upcoming console availability, Coridden is highly recommended for individuals seeking an enjoyable, cooperative experience with friends and family.
