Yolk Heroes [Review]

Yolk Heroes is a creative game from the minds of 14 Hours Productions. Combining Gameboy color graphics with the Digivice/Tomogachi style gameplay I was completely blown away by the level of detail and charm that was put into this game. In this game, you raise your character who was born from an egg.

Protect the egg and raise the child until they are strong enough to defeat the Dark Lord. Players will engage in various Mini Games such as keeping the egg at the right temperature and fishing. You can also watch your character train when they are older. As your character gets older or levels up it shows players a Pokemon-like evolution screen.

The battle system is fun and unique as well. Players that have used a Digivice would be right at home. One thing I can appreciate is the steam deck support. This game would thrive on the Nintendo Switch! While I'm working I have Yolk Heroes running on the Steam Deck and my Little person is living their lives and I can chime in and interact when I am ready to do so. The nostalgia of booting up the game with the Gameboy ESC sounds is such a welcome touch.

The music is fantastic. The difficulty is just right and the time management and immersion in the game keeps you engaged and hooked. For 7.99 the game is an absolute steal and Needs to have a physical launch for the Switch pronto

Yolk Heroes is cute as heck! The gameplay is something I have been yearning for and did not know. This game is the ultimate pick up and play and the music and charm drive the whole experience home. I care a lot for my character and I hope everyone that tires this game out, gets as hooked as I did.

P.S. Devs! Its criminal that this isn’t available for the Nintendo Switch!!!
