Xbox Game Bar Update Adds Widgets and Features

The Xbox Game Bar will be getting a host of new features and widgets that will make for a lot of happy PC gamers. Eric Hamilton and Kripal Kavi, members of the Xbox Game Bar Team, detail the new additions. “We’re working to give PC gamers greater control of their gaming experience from within Game Bar, delivering player-requested features like customizable UI, and widgets such as the FPS counter, Xbox chat, Audio Controls, Spotify music, XSplit’s HUD, and Razer’s Cortex and Gold & Silver” said the duo.

The first game to receive a companion widget will be Destiny 2. It will be able to track a player’s progress, quests, bounties, and give a preview of the Crucible map before a player enters. Stats and achievements from Bungie.net will also be available regardless of whether someone is plays on PC or console. Best of all, the team made sure that the widget will play nice with the anti-cheat system.

Game streamers will be getting some improvements, too. XSplit’s Game Bar HUD widget will support Broadcaster tools, making a streamer’s job much easier while remaining in their games. New Gamecaster controls will include a new audio monitor, making it easier than ever to get the sound just right for your audience.

The Xbox Game Bar team is also bringing new features to the Game Bar itself. Users will now be able to decide what happens when they click on a pinned overlay, either going to a widget or straight into a game. Moreover, overlays will now be supporting transparency, so gamers can get their setup looking just the way they want.

This Xbox Game Bar update adds a lot of new functionality that has been requested by the community. It does a good job of adding features that are quality of life improvements that PC gamers will appreciate.
