Xbox, Bethesda and Philadelphia 76ers Team Up

By: AlanV

Microsoft, Bethesda Softworks and the Philadelphia 76ers are collaborating throughout November in anticipation of the release of Fallout 76 on Xbox One. As part of this partnership there will be a custom “Radioactive Edition” Xbox One X Console and Xbox One Controller. The custom Xbox has design elements from both Fallout 76 and Philadelphia 76ers branding.

There will be other unique mashups of these brands that will be revealed over the new few days. Xbox has teased these upcoming reveals by telling fans to keep track of all three companies’ social handles, and that there will be an opportunity to win a “Radioactive” bundle.

It’s obvious that the reason for this collaboration is the number 76, as there isn’t much else these brands have in common. The design of this custom Xbox also feels incredibly haphazard, with the colors of Fallout clashing with the colors of the 76ers logo. Why not use the classy color combination of the 76ers throughout the design? Or have the 76ers logo in tatters as if it’s a natural part of the Fallout world?

It also seems as if they made their audience for this even smaller. The Venn diagram of people who are hyped for Fallout 76 and are also Philadelphia 76ers fans can’t be that impressive. A best guess is that they’re trying to get 76ers fans who may not know anything about Fallout to become suddenly interested after this crossover.

Fallout 76 is the online prequel to the Fallout franchise, where gamers will find themselves fighting for survival in the wastelands of West Virginia against other human players. Fallout 76 will be releasing on November 14.
