Twitch Tuesday Spotlight: TriteMare!
By: MithrandielWandering the halls of TwitchCon, I couldn't help but notice a taller gentleman wearing what looked like an animal onesie. Inquiring further with my friends, someone piped up "Oh yeah, that's Tritemare! Don't worry, he wears those things all the time." Indeed, he does.A jovial fellow with a love of anime and video games, Tritemare seemed like the perfect fit for our Twitch Tuesday spotlight segment, and I'm happy to share our recent email interview with you! Twitch Handle: Tritemare Twitch Channel: twitch.tv/tritemare What do you stream?: A variety of games, anything that will put a smile on my face or yours! When do you stream?:Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 7PM – 11PM ESTSaturday and Sunday – 2 PM to 8 PM EST How long have you been streaming?: 3 Years What got you into streaming?: I had just moved to a new city far from my hometown with someone I was dating at the time. We split up, and I was left hopelessly alone in a place very foreign to me. I started streaming so I could connect with my friends and family back home, but very few people I knew tuned in. Everything ended up working out just fine because I’ve made so many new friends in the Twitch community through my broadcast. Though, I would never have taken the initial leap to broadcast without the broadcasters who inspire me. Which streamer do you look up to the most? And why?:
- DizzyKitten – Her pure personality and kindness
- Koalibears – Her sense of humor and cool demeanor
- MaximusBlack – His singing, comedic talent, and ability to entertain
- LethalFrag – His skillful gaming and thoughtful approach to building a community
It is my sincere hope that you will be able to find a small aspect of each of the streamers listed above, in my own broadcast. I truly believe if you watch my show you can see a little of each of them in my actions. I’d like to take a moment to personally thank them, for inspiring me. What’s been your biggest challenge in creating, and maintaining your twitch channel?:My largest challenge has been networking with other broadcasters. I feel as if everyone is so busy producing their shows that they do not have a lot of time to get to know or connect with other broadcasters. Also, the Twitch platform is more crowded than ever at this time. It seems to me like every viewer also identifies themselves as a streamer or openly expresses their wishes to stream, which is excellent because streaming is super fun. I encourage everyone to try it. Overall, though, it makes networking difficult because established veteran streamers can’t determine those who are very serious about the fine art of streaming from enthusiasts or hobbyists. What’s more, is that I believe deep down everyone in the Twitch community would love to be a content creator for a living. This situation even further clouds the motivations of individuals that choose to stream. The term streamer is becoming a bit diluted, because, honestly, who isn’t a streamer anymore? I feel like the greater Twitch community is having a bit of an identity crisis that wasn’t as prevalent when I started 3 years ago.For people just getting started in streaming, what advice would you give them?:
- Create a schedule and STICK TO IT
- You must be involved in the community
- Your own community
- The greater Twitch community
- Act like a streamer and you will be treated like streamer
- Conduct yourself on camera professionally
- Do not self-promote your stream in other communities
- Network – opportunity is all about who you know.
- It’s ideal to network with streamers close to your size so you can grow together and learn from each other.
- Create what you love, for yourself.
- Watch you own VODS and imagine you are a first time viewer.
- Does your stream make you laugh?
- Does your stream represent your brand accurately?
- Does your stream have quality art assets?
- Is your stream similar to the streamers you love and look up to?
- If not, make adjustments ASAP.
- Watch you own VODS and imagine you are a first time viewer.
Favorite moment from your twitch channel?:I was involved in a competition to join a prestigious stream team called the Team2G Bootcamp. The entire event forced me to push myself farther than I had ever gone with streaming. It was responsible for me learning how to conduct myself properly on camera, handle collaborative events with other streamers, and how to handle working with sponsors. It lead me to make my promise to always strive for improved content and quality on my stream. Overall, those two months were critical in my development as a streamer. Although now Team2G is defunct, I still carry on all the lessons and relationships developed though that amazing experience. The Team2G Bootcamp made me the streamer I am today.Any upcoming events, last minute thoughts or pitches for non viewers?:I, Tritemare, The Kigurumi King, crusade for kindness, caring, and compassion, along with my Trite Knights. Together, we spread smiles, dancing, and kigurumis (costume onesie pajamas) across all lands! If you would like to join The Crusade, we would absolutely love to see you during a live broadcast or in our Discord. Together we can change Twitch, and the world!
