The Pull! [2.26.25]
This week I want to highlight one comic from different publishers throughout the space, something a little different. Let me know if you like this style more or less than what we usually do here!
From Marvel there are some great issues, like Ultimate Spider-Man #14, X-Men #12, West Coast Avengers #4 and the last issue of Sentinels #5 but this week I want to highlight Fantastic Four #29, unlike most comics Ryan North’s run on the FF is more of a adventure of the week with a small overarching plot here end there. I actually started with Fantastic Four #24 and enjoyed it so much I went back and read the series to see what else I was missing out on. I do recommend it! This issue though, it puts us right at the beginning of the One World Under Doom crossover event that is starting, Reed has locked himself in his lab to try and figure out what is going on, while Ben and Sue go to NY and meet up She-Hulk to try and relieve some stress but you know as well as I that isn’t what will happen!
For DC Comics this week, we have some great choices, Absolute Wonder Woman #5, Justice League Unlimited #4 but I want to talk about Green Lantern Dark #3, when this series came out in December I wasn’t sure I too feel, I love new takes on classic heroes, but they got to work. I think we all agree on that. This Green Lantern story is a really good take on that hero, HOPE that is exactly what a Green Lantern should be and the Green Lantern in this story presents hope in a fantastic way because she struggles, her world is lost, dead and way beyond the break of destruction but the humans she comes across give her that hope she needs to continue to be the hero she is. Also, this issue seems to introduce another hero…a bat family member perhaps?
Now from Image Comics this week, I think Radiant Black #31 is the comic I want to talk about. Now I don’t know much about this series or this universe, I have heard fantastic things and seen that Radiant Black OVA they did last year and it did pique by interest but I felt like there was so much going on that I was overwhelmed on where to start. That being said issue 31 is said to be a great jumping on point and that is exactly what I am going to do.
From IDW Publishing this week, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #7, this series has continued to deliver each issue, from slowly reintroducing us to our favorite ninja turtles and where they were in their lives to bringing them back together due to circumstances out of their control, now to having to leave the city they love and grew up in because no place is safe for them anymore. I love this take on the turtles and can’t wait to see where they go now.
From Boom Studios this week, I felt it right to mention Hello Darkness #8, now if you are in your late 20s or early 30s you might have read some Goosebumps books growing up, it was a lot of our young selves introduction to horror. R.L. Stine being the author that started it all and to this day is still writing. Why did I bring that up? Well he is the author for this issue of Hello Darkness! I can’t wait to see what he has imagined this time.
Lastly but certainly not least from Mad Cave Studios is Kill Train #2, now Kill Train #1 came out in Jan and it had pretty average reviews, but one thing everyone agreed on is the premise and the art was fantastic. In the distant future, NY has decided to deal with population control by random selecting trains and killing everyone inside of said train, hence Kill Train, a crazy premise for sure, I am hoping issue 2, rises past its first issue and makes this a great series to read.
I hope you guys like this version of The Pull! If not don’t worry we can switch back in a finger snap! Until next week, have a wonderful day and enjoy some comics!
