The 100 Season 5 Preview
By: Unbroken_FlameIt's finally time for season 5 of The 100! Go check out the official trailer here!
Warning: Spoilers ahead for season 1-4 if you're not caught up!
Last season left off with Clarke sacrificing herself, to allow her friends to escape from earth and return to the Ark to survive the deadly radiation for the next 5 years. The crew get about the Ark safely thanks to the genius Raven, but we're left unsure if they will be able to get life support back up and running to survive. Clarke is thought to be dead as she is shown running to safety as the waves of radiation hit, covered in horrible exposure blisters. Luckily for Clarke, her mother's nightblood experiment worked, and six years later she is alive and well in one of the last survivable places on earth. Her friends are still on the Ark and it is unsure at this point if they are alive, as she radios to them about her adventures over the past few years. The end of season 4 shows one more important thing; Clarke is now looking after a girl named Madi, who is also a nightblood. We don't have much information yet about Madi's character, but her and Clarke have an obvious mother-daughter bond. Season 4 left off with Clarke and Madi watching as a large ship began to touchdown on earth. Clarke is seen becoming very protective of the young girl as she reads that the ship is a "prisoner transport" and is likely not her friends. After month of waiting is finally time to get the answers we've been looking for! In the season 5 trailer released by The CW, we can see that Clarke's friends have survived on the ark, and it's heavily implied that they have returned to earth (perhaps on the prisoner transport ship?). And we have some new villains! There's not much information on them as of yet, but it appears they're all battling over the last survivable spot on earth. Something very interesting from the trailer, is that Octavia seems to be leaning towards a much darker role.At this point she seems to have taken over the leader role of the grounders, and had changed very much from the young rebellious girl she was at the beginning of the series. Along the lines of character progression, we also got a glimpse of Clarke at the end of the trailer stating "There are no good guys" as she shoots someone, I have a feeling this was taken from an important turning point in the season. There's not much footage of Clarke with her friends yet, and I'm curious to see which side all of the characters fall on, or perhaps there may even be three sides as they all fight over their survival.I'm very excited for the reuniting of all the characters, so see how they interact now that many of the character's personalities have taken a much darker turn. And it's been a while since the show has seen the introduction of new characters, so the new villain will definitely bring an interesting dynamic.Check out our Episode 1 Review of The 100 Season 5!
