Stuffed [Review]

Ever wanted to experience Call of Duty Zombies as a plush teddy bear fighting to protect the girl that sleeps with him in her arms? No? Well, trust me, you want to and don’t know it yet. Stuffed was developed by Waving Bear Studio and published by the same along with The Game Publisher. As mentioned before, Stuffed is very much a wave survival game like Zombies. Maybe with a bit more tower defense aspect as you are protecting rather than simply surviving.

Funny enough, this isn’t the first tower defense game where you play as and kill toys. Hyperbox Uncharged has a similar concept of defending against onslaughts of toys. Something to note is that Stuffed doesn’t have a trap or tower/turret system, though it could benefit from one. Also, in Stuffed, you are fighting against more than toys and instead fighting against the fears of a little girl too afraid to sleep without her teddy. Which is why the enemies include garden gnomes and shadow monsters. My personal favorites are the rubber ducks with glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth. Be careful with those shadow monsters! By wave ten we were swarmed with a bunch of tiny ones that would consistently defeat us in seconds.

Stuffed has a fun and playful aesthetic that makes it seem like a child's imagination that’s run too far. These bears are innovative, using household items and toys to create their weapons. Like the Sk8ter Boy gun that uses Beyblades to launch the ammo. Or the can of Coke-a-Cola used as another gun’s barrel. And the grenades are bags of popcorn (and they are effective!). But it’s more than just the fun of uniquely looking weapons, you can customize your bear with different patterns and colors and even give them a costume! You get currency from playing the game and it isn’t even too difficult to get. I managed to get enough for a color and a costume just from the first run I played.

This game is amazing with a group of people and I would highly recommend playing with friends. Stuffed is a 9/10 and can be enjoyed for hours easily, especially if you and your group of friends are fans of this genre and are looking for a new one to experience. Stuffed is currently out now on Steam and Xbox One and Series.
