Square Enix E3 2018 Press Conference Recap

By Zero OmegaSquare-Enix could be looking at a really big year this E3, a massive Kingdom Hearts III release date, Microsoft heavily pushing Tomb Raider, and rumors abound about Final Fantasy VII if Square-Enix had something to show off that was going to make their E3 now would definitely be the time with the eyes on the audience on their conference. Let's recap!Tomb RaiderWe get a much more extended game play trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, while I'm not a Tomb Raider fan personally I've got to say that this game is looking really good and coming together well. There is a lot of stealth-action going on in the middle of a jungle and it looks like Square-Enix is preparing this to be their big offering this year. Speaking of, we get a September 14, 2018 release date.[arve url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_z7zo3Zyyk" /]Final Fantasy XIVSquare-Enix shows off their latest Ivalice expansion for the popular MMO, but more importantly we are told that coming Summer 2018 there will be a Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter collab. The Awesome Adventures of Captain SpiritNothing new to see here that we didn't see at the Microsoft press conference.Dragon Quest XIWe finally get to see some of the localization for Dragon Quest XI, the classic Toriyama style shines threw well and we're told of special editions for the game. Dragon Quest XI will release in the West for PS4 and Xbox One on September 14, 2018. However a Switch version is a long while off. Additionally, a new collaboration event between Dragon Quest and mobile game Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius will hit in the Summer.Babylon's FallA brand new IP from Square-Enix shows off a medieval world and giants armor clad knights. Babylon's Fall is being developed by Platinum Games and will release in 2019.Nier Automata: Become As GodsThe popular game Nier Automata is coming to Xbox One with enhancements for Xbox One X.Octopath TravelerThis aesthetically pleasing game for the Nintendo Switch gets a new trailer and will release July 13, 2018.Just Cause 4The next entry in the Just Cause franchise is looking to be a vast, amazing, incredible open world insanity fest. Looks like you'll be able to fly into tornadoes and deal with other natural disasters. Square-Enix promises new enemy AI that will make them more challenging and will host the largest map and world of the series. It will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on December 4, 2018.Kingdom Hearts IIII think nearly every press conference has showed this off, we get a couple new tidbits of information with the showing of Hercules and Monsters Inc, but outside of that if you've seen one trailer you've seen almost everything else that Kingdom Hearts III has to offer thus far for E3.The Quiet ManA seemingly new IP from Square-Enix shows off a man beating up two thugs in an alley. The character doesn't seem to speak which could be a hint to the game's title. Not much else to see here though, more information to come in August.ThoughtsOof this was... Personally a bit of a let down from Square-Enix. I may not be the biggest fan of Final Fantasy VII but I was definitely expecting something from them regarding it. A lot of what was offered are things we've already seen or know about, and while The Quiet Man and Babylon's Fall are new IPs we don't really know anything about it that should be hyping us up. It just overall felt like a very flat presentation. At least Tomb Raider looks cool.
