Silicon Valley Comic Con Spotlight: Vela Quadrant Task Force

By: ZeloOmegaThe great thing about attending Silicon Valley Comic Con is the array of artists and comic creators you get to meet. You've got everyone from big name artists to indie creators looking to create the next big thing. There's so many people talk to and so much to learn that three days just isn't enough to explore everything. We were happy to run into Owen Peters, creator of the science fiction comic Vela Quadrant Task Force. The comic by Owen has been a labor of love since 2006 when he started it up at a webcomic. He released his first book based on the on-going comic series in 2008 and it has definitely been a completely wild ride since then. Owen takes pride in the humor, adventure, and social commentary he adds to the story of his comic to keep the reader engaged and enjoying every moment of it. He has now released three episodes and is working on the fourth to be released later this year.We spoke with Owen to learn more about Vela Quadrant Task Force and the really awesome wooden ship he had on his table:[iframe id="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2l5h-1SEUHQ"]In episode one we find that the human race has been engaged in an on-going war against the alien race, Derr'Goltha, who are trying to take over the universe. It is up to the crew of the Earth ship, Harvard, to fend off the invading horde and stop them! Moving onto episode two, we find that Earth has lost all contact with a space station that they watch over. Our crew is sent off to investigate and end up finding a secret weapon that has taken a life of its own! As we pilot our way into episode three, our crew is working on repairs for their ship on a remote alien planet when a fugitive infiltrates the ship and crew, running from a mysterious enemy. Our heroes travel across galaxies and planets on their never-ending space adventure. What secrets and mysteries will await them next? You'll have to find out in episode four![robo-gallery id="19533"]Aside from art and writing, Owen is a great craftsman as well. Placed front and center on his table at Silicon Valley Comic Con was this awesome looking wooden model space ship that he created in 1987. For being such an old piece, it looks great and it's thanks to Owen making sure to keep it maintained throughout the years that it has keep its pristine beauty. It's something you would see out of a classic space TV series or movie, and, of course, something that you would see in his comic series. Overall Owen has provided a long-running comic series that has been his passion for so long and shows no sign of giving it up. With a new episode coming out and him continuing to stay dedicated to his craft, I think you will be seeing Vela Quadrant Task Force for years to come.
