Silicon Valley Comic Con Spotlight: Brad Burdick/Billy the Pyro

Sure you have comic vendors that are selling new or vintage comics, and they could certainly tell you all about their inventory and each individual issue of a comic. However, it's a real treat to run into someone who is actually writing their own comic, it's a unique experience, it's something that person is passionate about and more often than now, it's a project that is a labor of love. We ran into Brad Burdick, writer of his own comic series, Billy the Pyro. We spoke to him about his comic series and his experiences at the first Silicon Valley Comic Con.[iframe id="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8vNaqDR_DZY"]Billy the Pyro is a coming to age story about a teenager named Billy. It's not your normal coming of age story though, you see, Billy has been genetically by a government agency. A result of that genetic altering? Billy now controls the element of fire. Now he has to learn how to deal with his newfound elemental control while also tackling his abusive upbringing and the tribulations that come along with being a teenager. He ultimately ends up working with the government agency to try as he finds his way through life. Brad published Billy the Pyro in 2013 due to the success of a Kickstarter he created to get the series going, and since then he's released four issues and one compilation volume. Even though he currently has Billy the Pyro on a hiatus, he plans to return to it in the future as it is not only his passion, but a very personal story to him. Billy will grow as Brad grows, so it will be a truly inspiring comic that should not be missed.
