Welcome to Way of the Passive Fist - a visually striking and highly addictive combat brawler from Household Games. We had a chance to chat with Jason Canam, Founder and Director of Household Games, about Way of the Passive Fist. Take a listen as he shares the inspiration behind the game, as well as some interesting stories around how certain game mechanics came to be.[arve url="https://youtu.be/GkDqQnEsqdw" /]

Demo - First Impressions

Since I first caught the trailer a few weeks ago, I was eager to get to PAX to try this game out, and our time spent demoing the game was absolutely worth it. A call back to the glory days of arcade gaming, the hero's movements are fluid and thoroughly satisfying.Way of the Passive Fist really does feel like Streets of Rage and Street Fighter had a meticulous and highly skilled baby. While your typical brawler doesn't have too much depth, and fighting games sometimes have too much, Way of the Passive Fist toes the line exceedingly well, allowing players who are comfortable with the controls to adapt and learn quickly, while also providing a thoroughly rewarding experience to more seasoned gamers who will no doubt be able to balance dodges, dashes, parries and shoulder-checks as they dispose of wave after wave of enemies.Of particular note is the highly customizable "Difficulty Setting" at the start of the game. There are 4 major parameters you can adjust including the strength of your opponents, density of enemies, parry timing and resources available. Each unique setting grants a particular title, such as "Way of the Vigilant Traveler" or "Way of the Tenacious Resilient Traveler". No doubt these varied choices will give achievement hunters quite a bit to work with. Finally, I absolutely love the visual style. Definitely has that Turtles in Time/X-men feel that Jason briefly mentioned, while also borrowing from dystopian environments like Mad Max and Fist of the North Star. All in all I'm extremely excited for Way of the Passive Fist to arrive. Definitely a title to look out for!
