PAX East Spotlight: Helheim Hassle
By Peeziest
From the folks brought you Manual Samuel, comes Helheim Hassle. The title is a puzzle game, with the twist being that the character's appendages can detach and move freely. Thus solving the age-old question of how one person can possible be in multiple locations at the same time!
This detaching mechanic is deeper than it sounds, as you can combine different parts together, and each combination has different attributes and abilities.
For example, arms are great at climbing and grabbing things, but can't jump. Legs on the other hand, move quickly and can jump. You can combine a leg and arm to get a creation that can jump, move quickly, and interact with the environment. The protagonist's head, is pretty useless on its own, as it can only move and hop a short distance, but it is the only body part that can talk, which is required to progress in some areas.
Because you can detach different body parts, weight ends up being a factor in some of the puzzles. The protagonist's full body might be too heavy to jump up to a certain ledge, but you can detach the head, and maybe an arm, allowing the rest of the body to jump higher.
The developer also mentioned that the game will feature plenty of secrets scattered around the game, providing plenty of extra content for players that like to explore.
Story-wise, Helheim Hassle takes place in the same universe as Manual Samuel. In fact, the two games take place on the same day. Helheim features the same comedic writing as Samuel, so if you enjoyed the first game you'll love this new entry.
