Overlord II - Episode 6

All About The Humans

When I went to watch the new episode of Overlord, I had no idea the episode would be about the humans of Overlord. I also was completely unaware how much I would enjoy them as the feature. Right from the start, it seems to show Sebas going about his daily routine. Nothing special to see at first. It didn’t take long however for things to change. Shortly into the episode as he’s walking through an alley, he comes across a large sack that is thrown outside by a large man. What’s in the sack? Well, it’s a barely living human woman of course. She’s in the worst shape anyone could possibly be in. Being the noble one that he is, Sebas takes her under his protection. He does so despite the fact that there could be obvious consequences for the man who threw her out and possibly Sebas himself. A behind the scenes group that supposedly runs things in the kingdom, 8 fingers, great name.

8 Fingers, Equals A Lot Of Consequences

A shady organization no doubt, one that we see at the end of the episode who is determined to retrieve their “property.” I guess being the good guy does have its consequences. What was most fascinating was just how the humans of this world are affected by everything that is going on. They are the weaklings. The humans are no match for beings such as Shalltear, just as Brian Unglaus. A man who thought he was one of the strongest alive until he had the misfortune of meeting Shalltear.Men such as Brian and Gazef Stronoff don’t seem to have much of a chance in this world. Still, the show is clearly setting them up to play a part in this series and I do wonder what that could be, I doubt it’s just to be slaughtered, the show definitely enjoys the long game in terms of payoff, so I guess we’ll see.

No Ainz Ooal Gown? No Problem

I should admit one thing. This is an episode where Ainz Ooal Gown didn’t have a single scene. I have said before in past reviews that the show can’t perform well without our main character. Clearly, I was wrong. This wasn’t the best episode, but it was good, interesting and enlightening. All the while it moved the story along. It seems the show can have good episodes without the main character, as long as they pick interesting characters and stories, who’d a thought?
