My Hero Academia Season 2 Episode 2 (Review)

By: AlanV[yasr_multiset setid=11]The U.A. sports festival is fast approaching for the students, and the stakes are raised even higher. It’s not only an opportunity for the more gifted students to be noticed by pro agencies, it also allows students not currently on the hero track a chance to take a spot from one of the other kids currently in class 1-A.With this knowledge Deku and the rest of his classmates begin to prepare for the upcoming event. The students’ preparation is shown with the use of a training montage. It’s not exactly exciting, but it’s certainly preferable to having taken the entirety of the rest of the episode and delaying the start of the sports festival. The U.A. sports festival begins with the pomp and circumstance that befits the event, however the fireworks aren’t limited to the celebration taking place. Todoroki states his intentions to Deku, proclaiming that he is the strongest person in class 1-A. While it might seem counterproductive to do that right before the event, it helps puts everyone else into the right mindset for the challenges to come.Once the hoopla of the opening ceremony is over with it’s time for the action to start. The first trial thrown at the students is an obstacle course. They can choose to complete it in any way they wish so long as they stay within the course. Right off the bat Todoroki makes good on his word and jumps to the front of the pack with the use of his powerful quirks, he’s easily able to bypass some robots that the rest of the group must deal with. The second episode ends as the kids begin to decide how to deal with the robots and catch up to Todoroki. It was an uneven episode, with the middle part that contained the training montage dragging a bit. While a step down from episode one, it does enough to get the juices flowing for the rest of the sports festival.
