My Hero Academia - Episode 14 (Review)

By; AlanV[yasr_multiset setid=11] The student of Class 1-A begin the mentoring part of their hero training, and as with any internship there is an onboarding process. It’s a little bit different for each student, and we only get a glimpse of what most of them are experiencing as the focus of the episode is namely on Deku. The hero Gran Torino will be the one to guide Deku, and he’s certainly an interesting character. He deftly maneuvers from being old and senile to being a fountain of sage advice. The best way to describe him is a combination of All Might with a dash of Mineta’s gag-type comedy. He looks to be a solid teacher who will help Deku get to the next level.Speaking of Mineta, he is on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to his mentor. Mineta being Mineta he opted to be under the tutelage of Mt. Lady for obvious reasons. This decision backfires fantastically as he ends up being her personal butler for the day. A fitting punishment for him, and a solid comedic moment for viewers.Another hero trainee not having a good time is Bakugo. He is spending his internship with the hero Jeanist, who is one of the top heroes. Jeanist is not a fan of Bakugo and his general attitude, and quickly sets the tone for their relationship and how he expects Bakugo to change his ways. Maybe we get the origins for Bakugo during this story arc and see where the saltiness comes from? It’s also important to note that the heroes aren’t the only ones who are being groomed. The Hero Killer Stain meets up with the League of Villains to hear their proposal, and is vastly underwhelmed by it. Surprisingly enough the leader of the group decides it’s time to show Stain a thing or two and mold him into what they envision being the strongest vision of himself. To hear this play out amongst the villain was shocking. It originally seemed as if they were looking to add another all-star fighter to their group in order to destroy All-Might. However, the meeting quickly showed that Stain has some room to grow, just as the students of Class 1-A do. How the League of Villains manage to reign in Stain will certainly prove worth watching. It’s another solid episode for My Hero Academia. We continue to get insights into the growth of Deku as a hero, along with some nice glimpses of how things are going for the rest of Class 1-A. Unfortunately, Deku’s uniform is still in need of improvement, even after the support squad got a hold of it.
