My Hero Academia Season 2 Episode 1 (Review)

They didn’t just merely survive the training, they also held their own in the last battle of season one against the League of Villains.The first episode of season two continues where season one ended. The staff of U.A. is still trying to figure out who the League of Villains are, what they’re being driven by, and who is galvanizing this ragtag group of villains to go on a full-frontal offensive against the heroes of the world.Meanwhile, the student body of U.A. have been informed that the school will proceed with their sports festival. The event is incredibly competitive, even surpassing the Olympics in importance. It’s an opportunity for these prospective heroes to show the world what they’re made of, and increase the likelihood of being picked up by an agency after graduation.However, for Deku it will be much more significant. All Might has made it clear that he needs to use this moment to take his place as the rightful heir, and send a message to the world that even as All Might’s powers decline that they will not be without the hero they need.This episode did an excellent job of serving as a transition between seasons. It provided a refresher for those who are already familiar with the story, but also gave enough information to act as a nice introduction to someone who might be seeing this anime for the first time. It also showed enough of the plot to excite viewers for the episodes to come.My Hero Academia season two is off to a strong start. The characters have returned in fine form, the artwork is also sharp and vibrant, and the pacing is on point. Episode one laid a solid foundation, and it looks like it’s going to be a fun ride throughout.
