My Hero Academia – Episode 62 (Review)

By: AlanVAfter the fall of All Might a feeling of unease is becoming increasingly palpable throughout society. Everyone is trying to determine who they can rely on in these times, and it’s obvious that the person expected to step up isn’t filling that void left behind by All Might. With this uncertainty villains are coming out of the shadows and imposing their wills on society. Even with this tumultuous backdrop the students from U.A. continue on with their studies.Episode 62 begins by getting a look into the current state of the world through the eyes of Twice, a member of the League of Villains. Even though he clearly has some demons he is working through and willingly admits that he’s crazy, he still has a grasp of the world around him. He deftly explains how everything is shaking out, and why things have become the way they are. It’s interesting to get his point of view, rather than getting it from a hero. It’s a deeper look into the psyche of people who decided to take a different path. It also shows how All Might didn’t just set the tone for the good guys, his existence really curbed the appearance of villains and the amount of their activities. It’s an opportunity to humanize the villains, because at the end of the day they’re still people trying to find their place in the world. As all of this is going on Deku and his classmates begin a new semester. It’s a stark contrast to see the students at U.A., where there is order and rules, compared to the world past the school walls. It gives the campus a sense of seclusion, where the students can focus on getting better in a safe environment. With the beginning of the semester the teachers take the opportunity to let the students know what to expect. It’s time for them to engage in work study, where they will be allowed to do hero work with their provisional license. A necessary move now that villains are being more brazen. There’s a sense that the time for slacking off is over, and this is very much Serious Business.Towards the end of episode 62 The Big Three, the best students at U.A., make an entrance. There isn’t much information about them, however they will be giving the younger students a crash course on what it means to be out and about doing hero work. Manga fans are particularly stoked about this turn of events, so buckle up anime fans!
