My Hero Academia – Episode 57 (Review)

By: AlanVThe second phase of the provisional licensing exam begins, and it involves a simulated rescue mission. This will challenge the students in a variety of ways, being wildly different from the other tests they’ve had in the past. However, there will be an added element of chaos thrown into the mix that will make the situation even more difficult.As this final section of testing begins, it’s time to introduce a new organization. The Help Us Company is comprised of individuals who are professionally trained to be victims during mock rescue assignments. It makes sense that in a world where young people undergo hero training there is a need for a company such as this one to exist. It adds a nice layer of depth and believability to the world.The types of characters who show up as victims are all entertaining. You have a young child that Deku’s group comes across that immediately shuts them down with unflinching criticism. There’s also what’s clearly and old man masquerading as a toddler who is rescued by Yoarashi’s group. It’s My Hero Academia being itself, and it’s awesome. These interactions add a nice shot of comedy amongst the mayhem.As the students go about rescuing these professional victims, Ochaco comes to a realization. During the last few episodes her feelings for Deku have been bubbling to the surface, and it’s having an effect on her performance. Now, she’s deciding that she needs to suppress her feelings to operate at 100 percent. It’s a 180 degree turn for what seemingly was going to be a relationship sooner rather than later.There’s also something brewing between Shiketsu High and U.A. High. On the one hand Shiketsu’s class representative is making efforts to create co-operation between the two schools, while Yoarashi and Camie don’t seem to have the same feelings. It creates a group of characters who are definitely skating in a grey area, and adds some interesting tension to the proceedings.There’s a lot going on in episode 57 of My Hero Academia. Viewers are bounced around throughout the examination field as the students do their best in a chaotic situation. It can definitely feel choppy at times, but it still manages a good flow while introducing some new challenges for the students.
