MLB The Show 22 Will Launch on Xbox Game Pass

Xbox has announced that MLB The Show 22 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass when the game launches on April 5th, 2022. Members of the service will be able to play the standard edition of the game on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or use the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature to play. Members of the Ultimate tier will also have access on PC and mobile devices. This gives players the choice of how they want to play the game.

This year MLB The Show will also be getting cross progression, cross saves and cross-platform play that will also include the Nintendo Switch. With the addition of the Switch this will be the biggest player base the game will have, making it easier than ever for fans of the franchise to connect and play together.

According to Ramon Russell of San Diego Studio, “Nintendo fans can now join in with Xbox and PlayStation fans to play against each other online with cross-platform play in MLB The Show 22. In addition, cross progression allows you to earn and use any content on any platform or generation (this excludes PS5 and Xbox Series X|S exclusive content). With cross saves you can transfer a save file for Road to the Show or Franchise.”

Fans of the series can get deep dives into the development of the game by watching MLB The Show 22 Feature Premieres. To catch these, visit the San Diego Studio’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Live pages. Where it’s possible to watch either live or on demand.

When the MLB The Show 21 launched last year on Xbox Game Pass it was a surprise, especially since it’s both developed and published by Sony. However, seeing this year’s version launch on the service is even more surprising. The initial analysis was that the franchise was looking for an easy way to expand its player base and that it was the perfect way to give Xbox gamers a chance to try it out before going full price the next year.

This announcement shows that this analysis was off. It might end up being a yearly release that Xbox Game Pass member can look forward to.
