Bringing a beloved video game franchise to life is a tall order. Video game fans are particularly picky, and when it comes to adaptations, things have gone very bad, very quickly. That turbulent background is a major reason why the recent Castlevania series on Netflix was such a pleasant surprise. Earning critical acclaim, the product of Samuel and Adam Deats, animation director Spencer Wan and writer Warren Ellis peaked at #2 on iMDB's top new television list.
I was interested in learning more about the creative process, as well as celebrating the terrific work the team did as a whole, so when I was able to line up an interview with both directors and the animation director I leapt at the chance.
Take a listen below as Sam, Adam and Spencer share their insights on the series, what it took to make a series that appeals to a wider audience, the inspiration behind Trevor's wild yo-yo trick whip technique and more. Take a listen!
