Mithical Entertainment At Anime Expo 2017 - What to Expect This Weekend

By: MithrandielGood afternoon my lovely Mithical followers! The time is quickly approaching: Anime Expo 2017 officially begins in just two short days! We are very excited to announce that we have been approved for Press access this year (sorry, no Premier Experience this time). As such, we have a busy, busy weekend ahead - and will be keeping you all posted on the latest and greatest from the world of anime! Here's a look at just a few of the events we'll be covering:

Friday, 6/30: Preview Night!

Coverage begins on Friday, as this year marks Anime Expo's first convention including a "Preview Night". There will be a number of events and video rooms live in the evening hours, including "Funimation's Guide to AX 2017" and the Anime Expo Kick-Off Party, hosted at the adults-only Lounge 21 from 8 PM until 2 AM. We'll be getting some pictures, seeing what tips Funimation has for us, and generally getting a feel for the value of AX's first ever pre-show!

Saturday, 7/1: The Show Begins!

Saturday is a packed day, with festivities kicking off officially, and numerous industry panels being lined up one after another. We'll be hearing from Production I.G., VIZ and Funimation, as well as catching the premier of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Prologue. In the evening we'll be spending some time with some of the voice talent and localization experts behind Persona 5, before heading over to the often highly-anticipated Anime Music Video (AMV) competition.

Sunday, 7/2: Now We're Cooking!

Day 2 kicks off with an Industry Spotlight panel featuring the father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi and his friend and colleague Kimihiko Fujisaka. In the afternoon, Crunchyroll will host an industry panel, likely sharing some exciting announcements regarding new acquisitions and plans for the most popular anime-streaming platform in the world. Following Crunchyroll's panel we'll be attending a panel with No Game, No Life director Atsuko Ishizuka and script writer Jukki Hanada to get some insight on the upcoming film. Studio TRIGGER will also be sharing some of their upcoming plans at their panel that afternoon, with Sunday being capped off by Crunchyroll's exclusive screening of The Ancient Magus' Bride! We'll be sure to post our thoughts on this highly anticipated series!

Monday, 7/3: Lights, Camera, Action!

Monday is a day packed with anime-watching: Lupin the Third - Italian Game will be screening in the United States for the first time ever, an exciting opportunity for Lupin fans (such as myself). Immediately after the Lupin premiere is a screening and voice actor panel for Code Geass: Akito the Exiled. I'm also very excited to announce I'll be attending a panel on Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana in the afternoon/early evening. Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo will be talking about the Ys franchise as a whole, and showing off some of the latest gameplay elements. Finally, we'll be getting our Dragon Ball Super fandom on with a panel on the latest iteration of the long-running shonen series.

Tuesday, 7/4: All Good Things Must Come to an End!

Before we toss some hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill, we have one more event to attend before we put a bow on our Anime Expo experience - an immersive Code Geass concert titled Power of Kings!Phew! Needless to say, we've got a lot on our plate for the weekend. Of course, none of this includes whatever exciting interviews we can secure, as well as conversations we'll be having with indie game developers and artists, countless pictures of cosplayers and much, much more!Stay tuned this weekend everyone, we're going to have a blast!
