Latest Witcher Trailer Sparks New Hope In Strong Adaptation
By: Mithrandiel
The latest trailer for the Netflix series The Witcher landed today, and it’s easily the strongest yet:
While early news of the series’ development and initial casting news around Henry CavilL was greeted with doubt and cynicism, the latest trailer appears to be making some serious strides towards dispelling any remaining skepticism that this will be anything but a great adaptation of the Witcher universe.
As a reminder, the series focuses mainly on the book series as opposed to the events that transpire in the game trilogy, including the widely-beloved Witcher III: Wild Hunt.
Watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but note Cavill’s spot-on Geralt accent, as well as A strong characterization for Yennefer as well. I also enjoyed the brief glimpse at a monster cloaked in shadow, more of Geralt’s swordplay at work, and even a hint of magic use with what looks like aard, the telekinetic push/stun technique, being employed against a handful of combatants.
The music choice was good for a trailer, but I’m really hoping for a sweeping, orchestral soundtrack to accompany the show when it lands, as The Witcher series as a whole has provided quite a large pair of shoes to fill when it comes to the music department.
Overall, very happy with the direction of this last trailer and am stoked to see what the final product looks like.
