HEY WE'RE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE TRAILER AND PROBABLY SPECULATE ON SOME STUFF SO IF YOU'RE TRYING TO PRESERVE YOUR SPIDER-MAN EXPERIENCE AND KEEP IT PURE YOU MIGHT WANT TO MOVE ALONG.
In just 4 short weeks, one of the most highly anticipated film events of the year will arrive: the third installment of Tom Holland's Spider Man films, and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: No Way Home.
In the meantime, Marvel's decided to give us just a little bit of Spider Man, as a treat. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, take a look:
You good? Ok.
Now I can tell you that I loved the trailer. I think it's doing a great job of providing broader peeks at the narrative without giving the whole game away.
That being said, there are definitely some key Easter eggs to tease fans:
Black Spider Suit: Tobey Maguire's notable black suit makes an appearance in the trailer, leading to further speculation and hype that the original cinematic Spider-Man is indeed making a return with the Multiverse being introduced.
Green Goblin: We definitely hear the tell-tale voice of Dafoe as he chastises Peter (which one? Ooooo) In addition there appears to be either a new design for the Goblin or a secondary Green Goblin that appears based on a unique costume design that appears briefly.
Electro: Jamie Foxx has indeed returned as Electro, this time looking much less blue and much more in line with the signature "crackling yellow" electric appearance. His mask was a great touch, and definitely seems more true-to-form.
Lizard & Sandman & Vulture [?]: Lizard and Sandman were certainly easy enough to spot, but more evidence was being gathered for the return of the Sinister Six as someone appears to have spotted Vulture in the distance during the brief battle near the end of the trailer.
Multiverse Madness: In the closing seconds of the trailer Strange indicates that there are entities "coming through" and the scene seems like the multiverse is tearing at the seams. It certainly seems logical that the multiverse shenanigans directly plays into Dr. Strange's next adventure within the Multiverse.
Shadow-Punch on Lizard=Andrew Garfield?: The Brazilian trailer appeared to have left in a very key editing error. In the shot where Holland's Spider-Man is leaping towards Sandman, with other enemies all around him, Lizard seems to be struck by an invisible force in the closing moment. There was already a fan-theory that based on the composition of the shot that this is actually a scene involving the three Spider-Men (Holland, Maguire and Garfield) battling the Six together. The shadow-punch just seems to further confirm this.
There is ton to unpack in terms of how the narrative might play out in an unexpected way, but in the meantime, there's definitely plenty of promising developments in the trailer.
