JoyTops Analog Stick Covers (REVIEW)

By: Gentleman JebI don't know about you, but I've never liked how quickly the analog sticks on modern controllers wear out. My thumbs always slip off at the worst time while playing games, which usually leads to my avatar's immediate death. Enter JoyTops, the newest and coolest way to customize your PS or Xbox controller while also enhancing the gaming experience!

Game Changer

JoyTops are stylish analog stick covers that slip onto analog sticks and screw down onto themselves for a perfect, tight fit. They're easy to put on and they seem pretty durable despite being made of mostly plastic. Their main function is adding extra grip and surface area to the analog stick so thumbs don't slip during gameplay. This is achieved through a novel upcycling of actual sports ball leather (basketballs, baseballs, footballs) or carbon fiber. Yes, you read that correctly, each JoyTop is made with a small amount of scrap sports material that not only looks authentic, but is also very effective.I ordered a set of JoyTops with basketball leather, and was given the option of main and base colors for further customization. When I received them, I immediately liked how the top looks exactly like a basketball. I put them on in seconds, and it only took a minute of use to realize how much better my thumbs gripped the analog stick with them than without. In addition, it seems like my range of motion has been slightly improved due to the minor increase in analog stick height. This could be a...err...game-changer for E-sports, as cyber-athletes (just like old men) are always on the prowl for anything that will increase their performance.

The Long Game

I know what you're thinking: “why would I buy these when there are several rubber analog stick covers on the market?” First of all, every analog stick cover I've bought has worn out within a couple of months, which means that I would have to buy a $6 set at least 4 times a year. JoyTops are more expensive, but It's unlikely that the sports ball leather or carbon fiber will ever wear out. If this does happen somehow, then all you have to do is take the JoyTops apart and insert whatever replacement material you want. As a result, they never need to be replaced. While JoyTops are a fantastic addition to any core gamer's controller, they aren't perfect. For instance, I find it slightly more difficult to press L3 and R3 on my PS4 controller when I'm using JoyTops. I also think that the carbon fiber versions are too slick for my liking. Lastly, one pair will set you back $30, so getting sets for multiple controllers can start to really add up. However, I think they're well worth the price.Click here to visit the JoyTops website for more information or to place an order.
