John Wick 4 Review - Yeah, I’m Thinking He's Back
By: Jeffery
My local theater just went through a 3.75million dollar renovation. It now has these big, comfortable, reclining seats. I did what any normal person would and put these things to the test. So for 2hours and 49mins, I watched Jonathan do what he does best...hunt
I picked the right entry in this franchise to finally see on the big screen. The set pieces and characters demand it. From the majestic cherry blossoms to the rather large crime boss, its all a lot to take in. You may think with this being the fourth movie in the series, they'd run out of wow moments and mouth opening action scenes. I'll let you in on a little secret…they haven't
Chad Stahelski shows once again why he may be the best action director out there. Did you know he's attached to a Ghost of Tsushima and Rainbow Six Seige project? Well in John Wick 4, he reminds you. There are scenes that were 1000% a demo reel to show what he will do with those properties. After seeing Mr. Wick preform some of them, I say sign me up for whatever Stahelski does.
Keanu shines, as if that's a surprise. Armed with his ballistic suits and his signature "yeah", he travels the globe to hopefully find his way out of this world of killing. On his travels, we are introduced to some fantastic characters played by Donnie Yen(Caine), Hiroyuki Sanada(Shimazu), Rina Sawayama(Akira), and Bill Skarsgård(Marquis de Gramont). Wick 4 has the best collection of cast, in my opinion, out of all the movies. Maybe I just really like samurai and martial arts?
Sitting at a 95% on both the Audience and Tomatometer scores, John Wick 4 just delivers. It has one of the coolest shots in a movie i have ever seen. Im talking about goofy smile on my face the entire time it was going on kind of cool. Oh and have I even mentioned the music? Is there anything better than when Wick is disposing of people to the Le Castle Vania tracks? You know the ones I'm taking about. If you've seen the other movies, you've heard those songs. If you want to feel motivated during the day, look him up on Spotify. Prepare accordingly.
The amazing fight scenes we've come to love, the perfectly placed physical humor, the electronic dance music soundtrack and absurd amounts of center axis relock action. You know, the way he holds his gun sideways? Yeah, that's a real thing. Give it a Goog', I did. John Wick 4 takes the series to new heights and it's an amazing ride. If you are a fan of action movies, you're in for an absolute treat. Go see John Wick 4 and watch the Baba Yaga do what he does best...center axis relock.(seriously, it's a real thing)
10 out of 10
Perfect entry in the series. Keanu is a national treasure and Chad Stahelski is a heck of a director. This movie knows who it is and executes it flawlessly. A perfect close to an already perfect series
On a personal note, one of the best moments was seeing Lance Reddick on screen again. After his untimely passing on March 17th, it was very peaceful the first time he appeared on screen. Thank you for bringing that and so many other characters to life. Rest in Peace❤️
