Insult, Meet Injury - Shanghai Major Woes Continue
By: MithrandielThe Shanghai Major has been plagued by production issues from the start, but the latest and final insult to the teams will likely ensure that Shanghai will not host a major eSports event anytime soon.Team Secret, the champions of the Shanghai Major, reported via Twitter this morning that when they arrived to the practice rooms, all of their equipment was gone:Without any warning to their teams or staff, the Chinese production company in charge of wrapping things up (Perfect World, or PW) has hastily cleared out all of the practice rooms, leaving a mess of cables and boxes for the various teams to sort through as they try to account for their equipment before leaving. In addition to the chaos of equipment being thrown about, personal items were also reported missing, including the keys to "rOtK"'s Maserati. No big deal. This final offense aptly summarizes the overall production quality of the Shanghai Major - rushed, messy and completely unorganized...but now adds a nice "unethical" cherry right at the top. Coincidentally, this latest mishap happened to occur just shortly after Valve released this statement, pledging to higher production qualities in the future:"A Dota Major should be a celebration of the amazing community that shepherded the game from humble origins to the global passion it has become. Disappointment should come from the elimination of a favorite team in a hard-fought match, not from the experience of just trying to watch a game you love."Here's hoping that Valve learns from this painful and drawn-out lesson. Only time will tell.UPDATE: OG's manager has posted a letter from the Marriott hotel management. You can view it here
