My Hero Academia Season 2 Episode 3 (Review)

By: AlanV[yasr_multiset setid=11] The sports festival is in full swing as Deku and the rest of the students are working hard to make their mark. While it is an opportunity to stand out as individuals they end up working together on their first obstacle to dispatch the group of robots blocking their path. It’s standard fair and serves as more of an introductory segment to some of the students and their quirks.The next obstacle was a chasm that needed to be traversed. This is where a new group of students is introduced, the support course, who can use whatever gadgets they come up with to compete with the rest of the kids. Again, it’s a short segment that doesn’t offer too much excitement. However, it is interesting to see the diversity of types that attend the school.The final obstacle is where the fireworks really begin. The wannabe heroes are tasked with traversing a mine field while also dodging their fellow competitors. While Todoroki and Bakugo surge to the front with their abilities they are slowed down because of the mines. This allows Deku to come surging from behind with some ingenuity. This is by far the most enjoyable portion of the episode.Once the obstacle course is done with the students are presented with their challenge. They will be involved in a cavalry battle that will pit them against one another in team competition. The twist is that they will all be assigned point values, and whoever beats them earns those points. After coming out on top Deku will have a target on his back!The third episode was a fun one, however it would’ve been nice if the entirety of the episode had the excitement of the mine field section. It’ll be fun to see how teams shape up for the next competition and how Deku handles being the one person everyone is gunning for.
