FreeJack Online [Impressions]

Free Jack is a love letter to the mid-to-late 1990s, the Sega Dreamcast era. This game just oozes with Sonic Team and Sega influence, from the graphics to the stylish music. The gameplay is silky smooth, and the parkour and overall experience are very rewarding. Free Jack originally came out in 2010 and shut down in 2012. The launch was rough, and the game ultimately shut down. The development group known as Inner Engine reached out to the original creators of this game to offer a revival and resumed development. After years of watching this game, I finally got to play it, and it's amazing. Free Jack has 4 playable characters and more characters to unlock by racing and collecting points. All with their own attributes and skills.

The objective is to race and get the most points. Doing tricks, perfect jumps, or vaulting is the core way to score points. The races are 8 players and chaotic. Players will drift, run, and jump through several jet-set radio-style stages with plenty of shortcuts. The two stages I played the most were an urban city and a sewer. The sewer is a favorite. Free Jack has robust character customization that allows players to change various attributes for the characters, so players can have their own unique character and play style. Free Jack is a load of fun, and I can't wait for further updates and its eventual launch.
