It was a few years ago now - I was casually strolling through the artist alley at Fanime when something caught my eye. A meticulously constructed diorama of Mega Man and Roll, entirely made of beads and seated in a nice frame. I glanced over their wider offerings and was honestly impressed with the level of detail, and the powerful nostalgia that their pieces triggered within me. 2.5d is an extremely popular and recognizable vendor in the anime and video game convention scene, taking their work up and down the West coast throughout the convention season. I had the opportunity to chat with Cindy and Chris, who have been running this operation along with two others for the last 4-5 years, about what got them started and what makes them so successful in the feast-or-famine industry of convention-based sales.
