Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons [Review]
Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons, the latest addition to the Double Dragon franchise, has made a comeback on modern consoles with a surprising choice in graphics. Despite its Neo Geo style aesthetic, Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons is one of the best Beat 'em up games in recent times. It stands alongside contemporary titles like Shredder's Revenge and the latest Streets of Rage game. With 18 playable characters, there's a character for everyone, though players initially start with only 4, and 5 additional characters are available as free DLC. The game is a refreshing change, packed with earnable characters and rewards, offering far more replay value than any other Beat 'em Up on the market.
Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragon incorporates light RPG elements, allowing players to choose various upgrades for their characters after each stage. The difficulty scaling is well-balanced, starting easy and gradually becoming more challenging. Players select 2 characters and can tag in and out during gameplay. The "crowd control" mechanic adds a fun twist to scoring. The soundtrack is such a Bibidi Bop!! I haven't heard anything this good since I was a kid. I enjoyed it so much that after playing the game a few times, I went to YouTube to listen to the music on its own. The composer deserves serious recognition! Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons is a fantastic game and a treat for any Beat Em Up fans out there. Do not sleep on this title. Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons is available now for all current gaming platforms.
