Dino Crisis Remake - Why We Need It
Capcom has done it again. The Resident Evil 4 remake is the talk of Raccoon City. They took an already great game and somehow made it better. Now for their next trick, give us Dino Crisis
For those who may not know, Dino Crisis is a survival horror game published by Capcom in 1999. It was referred to "Resident Evil with dinosaurs" and considering it was made by the same team, that makes sense. Need I say more? Well, I'm going to so buckle up
Dino Crisis was such a great mix for a 12 year old Jeffery. By then, I was already familiar with Resident Evil and loving it. Resident Evil 3 lived in my Playstation; It's my favorite of the series. Now you're telling me I get that environment but instead of zombies it's a Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptor?? Who doesn't love dinosaurs?!
Capcom has proven over these last few years that they know how to treat the classics. Even more so, we have shown that we WANT these games. Some quick numbers to go with that:
Resident Evil 2 remake - 11.2 million copies by January 2023
Resident Evil 3 remake - 6.4 million copies by January 2023
Resident Evil 4 remake - 4 million copies in its first two weeks. released March of 2023
Nostalgia sells. There is no denying that. I am as guilty as anyone. I live for anything and everything that takes me back to a time before bills and the difficulties of adulting. Luckily for us, Capcom has really mastered that lately. Did you see those sales numbers?
So look, since we're being honest with each other, nostalgia is what's driving this so heavily for me. I can remember starting up that original Playstation 1 and the Dino Crisis start screen coming on
The first few times playing was at my cousin's house. We would wait until later at night to start it up. He was a master at getting the ambiance just right. I would be in charge of the strategy guide. A co pilot if you will. He's a few years older so he handled actually playing it. Off we went. Kicking butt with Regina.
I know some rumors and things have all pointed to a Resident Evil 5 remake next. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Resident Evil 5. I think it's extremely underrated. I would just say we can hold off on seeing Chris Redfield punch a boulder if it meant we get to see Rick type away on a computer
The other option is Resident Evil Code Veronica. That I wouldn't mind just because I don't think it received its full due when it came out. Another underrated entry in the series, in my opinion
So let's all unite in our chants for a Dino Crisis remake. Just imagine how great it would look. Don't even get me started on how scary it would be. Come on Capcom. you know you want to
When dinosaurs are involved, life, uh…finds a way.
