Days - Episode 11 (Review)

Seiseki opts to park the bus, and waiting for an opportunity to unleash a counter-attack. Saku then has the onus of doing all of the attacking, something its player relish.The explanation of the tactics Seiseki chooses is done by peering into the internal dialogue of the team manager, and does a good job of conveying what’s going on. This is especially helpful for those who might not be as knowledgeable about the sport. However, it would be far more exciting to see what’s going on in the mind of their coach.Unfortunately for Seiseki their decision doesn’t work out as they plan and they fall behind, forcing them to then push into the attack in an attempt to tie things up in the final five minutes of the game. This happens to teams often, and it’s hard for them to be able to recover the goal they gave up. It also leaves more openings for the opposing team that can lead to a game being lost in a hurry.Towards the end they had a freeze frame moment as Tsukushi was nearing goal. He recounted a story from his childhood, using it to show his state of mind. That even though he hasn’t had the most pleasant time growing up he wasn’t going to let that stop him from continuing to charge forward, fighting for everything and everyone currently in his life. Basically, this thought process is what makes Tsukushi, Tsukushi.The episode ends on a cliff-hanger, and it’s difficult to tell which direction the show wants to go in. Will the game go into overtime and possibly beyond that all the way to penalties? Or will Seiseki suffer defeat, and have to learn from the experience? It looks like we’ll have our answer in the next episode of Days.Days can be viewed on Crunchyroll, new episodes debut Saturday at 3:30PM EDT.
