Crone Issue 1 (Comic Quick Take)

By: RogueSymbiote

Welcome everyone to our new and experimental Comic Quick Take segment! With so many comics coming our way lately, I've decided to give a brief spoiler free review for the standout issues. First up, Crone #1 from Dark Horse Comics.

This new series from writer Dennis Culver and artist Justin Greenwood tells the story Bloody Bliss, a battle tested former female warrior who is called upon to take up the sword one last time. She may have aged, but her old ally believes she's still up for the perilous adventure. Described as equal parts Unforgiven and Xena: Warrior Princess, Crone is sure to provide pain, loss and some serious action!

As a fan of strong female protagonists, Crone fits right in my wheelhouse. The first panel showing her after growing older hooked me instantly. It's clear that Bliss has her demons, but she doesn't seem to have lost a step in the combat department. The character design for the main villain is Sauron meets The Punisher and it's incredible.

Overall, Crone #1 was an excitingly dark read that is sure to be an exhilarating series. Bliss is a complex character which will make her journey all the more interesting to watch. Some panels are clearly more detailed than others, but the art is generally well done.

Crone #1 releases Nov 6th so make sure to pick up your copy! You can order your copy right here!
