Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card - Episode 22 (Review)

By: EyeSpyeAlex and RaeThe finale of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card is here! Need to catch up? Check out the previous episode review here.In the latest episode of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Sakura and Akiho continue to have an increasing number of shared dreams. While the two are unaware that they are sharing the same dream, the feeling that remains upon waking up leaves them uneasy. Akiho even comments that she feels like she and Sakura are extremely similar.Despite Sakura’s obviously increasing powers and close connection to Akiho, Kero and Yue decide to abide by Eriol’s wish to keep Sakura in the dark. Both agree to protect Sakura in any way they can, which means an increased amount of guard duty for Kero. While Kero helps Sakura dry her hair that evening, Sakura suddenly finds herself pulled into the clock world. She quickly comes back to reality and looks out her window to see the mysterious figure floating there. Sakura engages the figure in combat using Flight and several other cards, but is forced to give up the fight when the figure begins to steal her cards. As she begins to fall, she knocks the mask on the mysterious figure, revealing them to be Akiho.Suddenly Kaito appears and uses his magic to stop time. Realizing that he can stop Sakura from remembering what happens for at least a little while, he turns back time to earlier in the evening. Sakura, unaware of what events just occurred, continues to get ready for bed and heads to school the next day as usual. To be completely honest, this week’s episode was a total letdown. As a finale, this episode did nothing to give the series a clear and concise ending. There’s also no follow up season announced yet, so it’s unclear if viewers will ever get a resolution to the events in this series. As fans of the original Cardcaptor Sakura series, it’s more than upsetting to have a sequel series differ so much in terms of quality. If you’re looking for a palette cleanser, definitely give the original series a watch.
