Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card - Episode 21 (Review)

Just as Toya can sense something is going on with Sakura, so too can their dad, Fujitaka. While making tea with Toya, Fujitaka tells him that he has an intuition something is going on with Sakura. He further reveals that he’s sensed something happening since she was in the fourth grade. Fujitaka has been unable to talk to Sakura about this and trusts she would come to him or Toya if it was something she couldn’t handle.Meanwhile, Eriol, Kero, and Yue continue their meeting from the previous episode. Eriol tells Yue and Kero that Yuna D. Kaito was excommunicated from the magical association for losing a relic. The rumor is that Kaito didn’t lose it, but took it for his own use. As they ready to discuss the issue further, they’re suddenly interrupted by a disturbance and are transported to the clock world. Eriol gets Yue and Kero to safety before narrowly escaping himself.Before the three part ways they also talk about Sakura’s growing power level and drop a bombshell of a revelation. Sakura is creating the clear cards herself. We get to see Sakura do this later in the episode. Having left her great-grandfather’s house, Sakura wishes aloud that she had a mirror so she could see her true self. Upon arriving at her house, she finds it reversed, and makes quick work of capturing the card responsible for it: Mirror. She then uses both Flight and Mirror to create a pair of wings for Syaoran to use to join her in flying around the neighborhood.While this episode revealed a ton of information, it also set the tone for a possibly somber ending. According to Eriol and Syaoran’s mother, anyone who possesses as much power as Sakura does is doomed to unhappiness. While Syaoran pledges to himself to save Sakura from unhappiness, it’s unknown how he can guarantee that promise. Furthermore, there seems to be an overarching mystery surround Sakura’s mom, Nadeshiko. According to Fujitaka, Nadeshiko possessed the same mysterious aura as Sakura does, and also had connections England in the form of a beloved key.
